Recently, we hosted our 5th Annual Reentry & Recovery Conference, here at the Howard County Detention Center (HCDC). This conference was for our incarcerated individuals to attend. We were proud to not only bring in guest speakers, but this year we also brought in community resources to showcase some of the assistance that is available to them as they transition into the community. We are hopeful that our clients will feel hopeful about their next chapter and take advantage of the assistance that is available.

We are so grateful for Thomas Lane who launched a coat drive for our population! The coat drive was called “Coat off Your Back” and provided those being released into the community with a warm coat. This was a collaboration between his organization “Released Project”, and a church he does ministry with “City of Hope Missionary Baptist Church”. Thank you to all of those who participated to keep our mission moving forward! 🧥🧤🧣

Of course the Howard County Department of Corrections was present for the Polar Bear Plunge! As a department we raised over $2,500 towards the Special Olympics! The campaign which included the Maryland State Police, Fire, Corrections and Sheriff’s Office, raised a whopping $341,667! We want to thank all of our employees who fundraised, donated, took the plunge, or showed your support! See you next year! ❄️
