Today the members had the honor of doing a fire prevention presentation at LaSalle Academy for the pre-k through 4th grade students. This years presentation was “Charge into Fire Safety” teaching safe practices for charging lithium ion batteries along with the yearly Smoke Detector, “Stay Low and Go” and “Get Out, Stay Out” messaging. We are also excited to have the opportunity to go back to the school to share the safe charging message with the 5th to 8th grade students in a couple of weeks!

Just to give some numbers behind what we do and the time commitment our members give to the community!!

**NFPA 1720 qualifies Jessup as a Suburban area with a goal of 10 minute response time (dispatch to arrival)**

Station 25 was dispatched for a kitten stuck in a storm drain. While enroute we had a second call in the borough for a CO alarm activation.

Car25 handled the extrication of the kitten from the storm drain while Rescue 25 handled the CO call.

Did someone say something about training??

The first Saturday of every month is our in-house training for the department and the members took advantage of a nice day by training on hose deployment and advancement into a structure. Crews ran a total of 6 evolutions and trained on deploying into both 1st and 2nd floors.

As with any skill if you don’t practice you will not be sharp when it matters and getting back to basics should never be overlooked!!
