OTD in 1989: Category 4 Hurricane Hugo was heading for the Lowcountry, and made landfall at Sullivans Island right around midnight. Hugo produced tremendous wind damage along the coast and inland, as well as strong storm surge damage along the coast.

At the upcoming WCHS vs. Groves Football Game, one lucky nominated First Responder will step onto the field to kick a FIELD GOAL FOR A CAUSE! 🐝🏈

If they make it, we’ll donate $100 to the charity or school club/team of THEIR choice!

Whether it’s a Firefighter, Law Enforcement, or EMS.. we want to celebrate the heroes who serve our community every day! 🚓🚒🚑🚨

Atlantic Tropical Weather Outlook
800 AM EDT Tue Sep 15 2026

Central Subtropical Atlantic:
A trough of low pressure located well east-southeast of Bermuda continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions are forecast to become more conducive for development in a few days, and a tropical depression could form late this week as the system moves slowly westward to west-northwestward over the subtropical Atlantic. It has a near zero chance of formation in 48 hours and a medium (40 percent) chance in the next 7 days.

Atlantic Tropical Weather Outlook
800 AM EDT Mon Sep 14 2026

Central Subtropical Atlantic:
A trough of low pressure located a little more than 1000 miles east-southeast of Bermuda continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions over the system are currently unfavorable for development due to strong upper-level winds. However, as the system moves west-northwestward across the central part of the Subtropical Atlantic, it is forecast to enter a more conducive environment for gradual development by the middle to latter portion of this week. It has a near zero chance of formation in 48 hours and a low (30 percent) chance in the next 7 days.
