UPDATE

JOHNSON CITY -- BrightRidge has restored the majority of about 1850 outages after clearing fallen trees from a distribution line.
About 60 outages remain to be restored. BrightRidge line crews and contractors continue to replace a number of broken power poles, often in difficult terrain.
Crews will continue working over night until all power is restored.
As always, BrightRidge strongly warns residents to avoid downed power lines and be alert for crews working if out traveling roadways in the region.

🌳 BrightRidge has begun tree trimming in select areas as part of our ongoing vegetation management efforts to help keep power lines safe and reliable.

It’s important to know who is responsible for vegetation around different parts of the electric system. BrightRidge maintains vegetation around our primary power lines, while property owners are responsible for trees and vegetation around the service line that runs from the transformer to their home.

Power poles are not bulletin boards! 🛑⚡

Planning a garage sale, local event, or trying to find a lost pet? Please keep flyers off utility poles.

It might seem like a convenient spot to post, but nails, tacks, and staples put our line workers at risk of serious injury and damage their protective gear. They also let water into the wood, which speeds up rot and weakens the pole over time.

Safer options:
🪧 Yard signs with ground stakes
📦 Social media post
💻 Community groups online
