Thank you to Bahiyjah Morrow-Rogers of the Binghamton Juneteenth Committee for speaking with our club! The committee works to educate our community about Juneteenth, a day for all Americans to come together, reflect on our shared history, and celebrate freedom.

On June 19, 1865, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, with the news that the roughly 250,000 enslaved people in the state were free. Bahiyjah hopes to see Juneteenth celebrated in every one of our communities.

A big thank you to Lindsey and Isis from United Way of Broome County for their presentation on Dolly Parton's Imagination Library!

This free program is launching this Saturday from 12 to 2pm at Your Home Public Library. Children ages 0 to 5 living in Johnson City are eligible, and families can sign up right at the event. Once enrolled, kids receive a free book in the mail every month.

We appreciate and support the United Way's efforts to bring this important program to our community. See you Saturday!

Jenny Chang, Executive Director of the Broome County Arts Council, stopped by our meeting a few weeks ago to discuss all their great programs and initiatives. We particularly love the public art murals that have been popping up!
