We have a program called Sisters in Fire which focuses on educating young students in 8th to 12th grade who are interested in careers in natural resource management and wildfire response.
Youth who participate will experience multiple aspects of wildland firefighting, from chainsaw operations to fire engines, dozers, and aircraft drops from firefighting aircraft. The final event of the day will be a prescribed burn that participants will get to see fire behavior. Our staff of instructors are all qualified wildland firefighters from federal, state, municipal, and non-profit organizations from across the state of Texas. This year is our 6th year and is being held in Manor, TX on September 26th. We are looking to fill our remaining open slots and hope that you might be able to pass this along to any youth you know who might be interested, or other groups that might have folks interested. I have included the link to register below.
The registration fee* is $14 and will help cover the cost of lunch, materials, and t-shirts for participants.
