We are thankful for the men and women who stepped up fifty years ago and started Jones Chapel Volunteer Fire Department. These people started our department with a lot of great ideas, huge hearts, and literally spent their own money. People of the community donated their time, expertise, and their money as well to build homemade fire trucks, fire stations, and get enough equipment to make it all work. Over the years the original founding members and the ones that came after continued to make Jones Chapel Fire better and better each day. We wouldn’t be where we are without each person that has passed through the doors!

As we continue to move forward, we have those same ideas in mind. We all want to serve our community with pride and honor. We train to be better than we were the day before. We work hard, budget our communities’ money & apply for grants to constantly get newer and better equipment.

We hope that what we do makes our founding fathers (and mothers) proud & our community proud! We will continue to make it better and better for the ones that will one day fill our shoes. We are excited for the future and we hope that just like the ones that became before us, that we will leave it better for our next generation.

Photos of the 2000 E-One Cyclone. Thanks again to Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus for helping make this happen. This truck will be called Engine 3 and will be assigned to Station 3. It will take a few weeks to get it fully equipped and lettered but the truck is in service and can be utilized. Thanks to our members who traveled last night and helped unload all the equipment from the aerial and also to the members who met us late last night and helped put enough equipment on the truck to get it in service! We are so thankful to have so many volunteers who show day after day to serve our wonderful community!

Last night we took delivery of a 2000 E-One engine that we traded the aerial for. This truck is equipped with a 1500gpm pump, 1000 gallon water tank, a large generator and a command light tower. We would like to thank Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus for the opportunity to trade out of our aerial and into this nice engine. This truck only has 37,000 miles and less than 3,000 engine hours.

Well today we said goodbye to Ladder 1. Unfortunately, during training a few weeks ago, a hydraulic leak formed which was going to be rather expensive to repair. We had just had a somewhat major repair on the truck a few months prior. After a lot of discussion, the decision was made by the members to look to see if we could trade it toward another apparatus to better serve our citizens and also be good stewards of the citizens money.

Today we received a wonderful email stating that once again we have been awarded a FEMA AFG (Assistance to Firefighters) grant! Since September of 2021, we have been awarded $490,328 in federal grant funds! These grants have paid for us to replace items such as air packs, fire hose, nozzles, turnout gear, rescue tools and several other items. This year’s grant will allow us to purchase new, NFPA complaint thermal imaging cameras, RIT packs, and also a new turnout gear washer and dryer. A big shout out to our grant writer, Dean at DH Grants who has been instrumental in us being able to secure these grants. Thank you to our members who work so hard behind the scenes to help make this all possible! We also have received numerous local and state grants over the last few years. We are constantly striving to locate grant opportunities which allow us to update equipment at a minimal cost to our department. Thanks to our local and state leaders, and various organizations who provide those opportunities to us as well!

This morning we hosted multi-agency training with several organizations to include Cullman County EMA, Blackwater SAR, Winston County Search and Dive & Battleground Volunteer Fire Department. Also a special thanks to the landowners for allowing us access to their properties. Today’s training consisted of training to locate two “missing” kids.

Congratulations to Randi Calvert on successfully passing National Registry obtaining her EMT certification! Passing EMT isn’t an easy task, we appreciate our members who dedicate the time and effort to complete and maintain EMT certifications. We now have 9 EMT’s, 2 Advanced EMT’s and 2 Paramedics out of 19 active members!
