Jonesboro Math & Science Magnet School At Math and Science Magnet we Gear up for Greatness: everyone, every day, every way! iPads are also available for all students through the library.

This page is maintained by the Jonesboro Math & Science PATHS (Parents and Teachers Helping Students). Students at Math and Science Magnet experience the challenge and excitement of a practical, hands-on learning approach to science while learning problem solving and abstract thinking. A well-equipped science lab provides a unique learning environment available to all 1st – 6th grade students. Our program is designed to help learners become aware of the real-life connections among mathematics and science in their everyday lives. To engage each child completely in the latest technology, each child has access to their own laptop computer in every classroom. Math and Science Magnet also started a weekly news broadcast. In 5th grade, students apply in the spring to have the opportunity to try out for the news show, "Real Time with Math & Science." The entire show is produced by students who meet weekly to come up with stories and broadcast out to the student body each month. Come visit Math and Science and see how our school might be a good choice for your child! Parents and Teachers Helping Students (PATHS) meets on the 2nd Monday of each month in the Library, (across from the Cafeteria) at 3:30 pm. Our PATHS organization is a group of parents, teachers, and administrators working together to make the best possible learning environment for our school. Besides wanting to be involved in the education of our children, our function is to provide the "extra" things for the students, teachers, staff, etc... that are not otherwise eligible for funding, such as PBIS Celebrations, Birthday Cupcakes, School Spirit T-shirts, Fall Festival, and Spring Fling. We also periodically provide special meals for the faculty and staff for special occasions such as Parent/Teacher Conferences.

Our very first House Meetings were filled with excitement, connection, and so many opportunities to bring our M&S Family closer together! 🥹❤️ Students got to meet their new Student House Leaders, celebrate our top House Point earners, and learn a brand-new House Cheer as we prepare for our first House Rally! 📣🎉

But these meetings were about so much more than cheers and celebrations. They were about building relationships, strengthening connections, and creating a sense of belonging for every student. We want every child at M&S to know they are seen, valued, celebrated, and an important part of something bigger than themselves. ❤️

Because at M&S, we are more than a school. We are a FAMILY. A family that lifts one another up, celebrates each other’s successes, and makes sure everyone knows they belong. 🖤💛

🦑🌊 Learning comes to life in 3rd grade! 🌊🦑

Our third graders wrapped up their Arts & Letters Module 1, The Sea, with an exciting hands-on learning experience—dissecting a squid! 🔬

Throughout this module, students explored the wonders of the ocean, learned about fascinating sea creatures, and discovered how scientists study marine life. They explored The Giant Squid, learning how scientists use historical clues, careful observations, and evidence to investigate these mysterious creatures.

To bring their learning full circle, students put their curiosity and scientific thinking into action as they examined a real squid, observed its unique structures, and made connections to what they had learned. 🐙

What an incredible way to finish a module filled with exploration, discovery, and wonder! We love seeing our students become curious thinkers, ask questions, and learn by doing! 💛🖤
