FALL LEAF COLLECTION SCHEDULE
The City of Jonesville will collect fall leaves for City residents, beginning Monday, October 26th. The Department of Public Works (DPW) will make several passes through town with the leaf vac, with the final collection scheduled for the week of November 16th. We appreciate your help in following these guidelines so that we can provide this service to all residents.

• Leaves may be raked to the edge of the curb or to the shoulder of your street in piles, beginning Monday, October 26th.
• The last leaf collection is scheduled for the week of November 16th. Please rake all leaves to the curb no later than 7:30 a.m. on Monday, November 16th.
• It is difficult to predict when the vac will be in your neighborhood. The speed of the collection is dependent on a number of factors, including the quantity of leaves raked in an area and the weather. Some neighborhoods may get picked up twice in a week and others once every other week, depending upon conditions. A map of the collection areas can be viewed on the City’s website, www.jonesvillemi.gov.
• If the leaf vac passes through your neighborhood before November 16th, there will be a final collection the week of the 16th.
• Be careful to keep leaves away from storm sewer catch basins that can become clogged by leaves, and cause flooding in the event of rain.
• Brush, twigs, rocks, walnuts, and concrete can damage the leaf vac and delay leaf collection. Please separate these and other similar items from leaf piles. Leaves will not be collected if these items are found in the leaf pile.
• Leaf collection is dependent upon the weather and the season. We appreciate your patience if we have to adjust the program and extend the collection season to address conditions.

BOARD AND COMMITTEE VACANCIES
The Jonesville City Council is currently accepting applications from individuals with a desire to serve their community on the Planning Commission, or the Local Development Finance Authority (LDFA).

Planning Commission
The Planning Commission guides the growth and future development of the City. The Commission recommends policies and ordinances regarding building and new development in the City to the City Council; it also reviews development proposals for consistency with existing rules and policies.

To be eligible for the Planning Commission, applicants must meet the following:

• A resident of the City, qualified and registered to vote in City elections. Residents of other municipalities may also be considered if they are qualified and registered to vote in their place of residence.
• Representative of important segments of the City, such as natural resources and recreation, education, government, or economic development.
• Planning Commission membership shall also be representative of the entire geography of the City, to the extent practical.

The Planning Commission typically meets in the evening on the second Wednesday of each month. Two seats are open on the Planning Commission, with the candidates eligible to serve until November of 2029 and 2031.

Local Development Finance Authority
The Local Development Finance Authority (LDFA) represents the interests of the Jonesville Industrial Park and the Industrial properties on Olds Street (M-99) and Beck Street in the City. The LDFA oversees promotion of the development of business in these areas and the maintenance of the infrastructure that supports these businesses. Owners, managers, or representatives of manufacturing and other industrial businesses in the LDFA district are eligible to serve on the Board. Applicants to the LDFA should demonstrate their interest in the economic growth of manufacturing and other industrial business in the City of Jonesville.

The LDFA typically meets in the morning on the third Wednesday of every-other-month. One seat is open on the Local Development Finance Authority, with the candidate to serve until November of 2030.

Members of the boards are appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the City Council. Candidates may be considered for reappointment after their terms expire. Candidates must remain current on utility billing and tax payments to remain eligible for service on City Boards and Committees.

HYDRANT FLUSHING SCHEDULE
The City of Jonesville will start Hydrant Flushing on Monday, October 12th. Flushing will begin on the west side of the City and crews will work east. Water customers may experience rusty or cloudy water or low water pressure. Customers are advised to run cold water in a bathtub or utility sink until the water runs clear again.

Flushing removes sediment and other deposits that accumulate over time inside of water pipes. It improves water flow to homes and businesses and assists the Fire Department with proper flows for fire suppression. It is also intended to assure that the water system, pumps, valves, and hydrants are working properly.

Please contact City Hall at (517) 849-2104 with any questions.
