One of the greatest historical pictures concerning the PAW - The year was 1920, the four leading officers are (LtoR) A.W. Lewis, G.T. Haywood, William Mulford, and General Superintendent E.W. Doak. The episcopal form of church government had not yet been adopted by the PAW, therefore their ministers, including officers were called Elders.

Three of my favorite preachers of all time! They were also my friends - the fruit of becoming a member of the PAW of which I was blessed with a plethora of friends! My heart still aches when I think of losing them from my life!

God bless the memory of Bishops James E. Tyson, Norman Wagner, and James A. Johnson.

In the Fall of 1904 Charles Parham (on the left) came to Joplin, MO., and began a revival campaign. He set up the tent pictured below at the corner of 16th and Joplin Streets. Within 6 months he had converted over 400 souls. He fought against so many devils in that timeframe until it left him exhausted and weak. This was followed by a complete physical breakdown of which he almost died. The oddity is that it seems to have set a precedent in the Joplin area - whereas demons fight against the ministry with so much perseverance until it has broken more than a few good men - My father included! He stood tested yet unmovable for 55 years of pastoring in Joplin. Although the same diabolical spirits that tried to kill Parham also tried to destroy him.
