❄️ SNOW, SNOW, SNOW! ❄️

Last Thursday, we had eight employees attend a Snow & Ice Training Course, hosted by Kansas LTAP. Employees came back with some new knowledge and brought some great discussions!

Then, last Friday, we held our in-house SNICE Training Day! Sessions included reviewing the Geary County Snow and Ice Control Policy (stay tuned for a separate post on this), safety tips for operating during winter weather, as well as some hands on-training with installing plows and spreaders on our equipment. Each piece of equipment was checked to ensure all essential safety items are present and ready to go! 💪

We served a Taco Bar to our employees to celebrate completing chip sealing a couple of months ago! 🎉

We feel attending and conducting these types of training is vital to our operations. The more prepared we can be for winter weather, the better! Now, let's just hope it's a 'mild' winter. What are you predicting?! 🤔

✨ More SNICE information will be shared here soon! Maybe even our winning truck names?!..... Stay tuned!! 👀

We love making friends, but not these kind. 😄 Warmer weather might bring back our new 'friends' but you can help us keep these 🐝 away!

Geary County has recently been receiving calls regarding the maintenance of Moss Springs Cemetery. Currently, this is NOT County property to maintain, but this was brought before the Board of County Commissioners to try and find a solution, as this property appears to be abandoned.

The Board of County Commissioners has authorized the Geary County Public Works Department to mow this area (for now just this one-time occurrence), to get this area back to a presentable appearance. We have the goal to get this mowed before Veterans Day.

Further discussions about the future of this area will take place in the upcoming months. Any questions or comments can be directed to the County Clerks’ office.
