Monday – Thursday hours: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
We take walk-ins and appointments Monday – Thursday.
Friday hours: 8:00 am – 12:00pm and are by APPOINTMENT ONLY.
OCTOBER: S last names expire the last day of October which falls on a Friday in 2026.
The office closes at NOON and appointments are required on Fridays, please reserve your appointment now or you will have to wait until November to renew your tags. Appointments can be made in our office, via the Geary County website under the Treasurer’s Office page, or selecting

Traffic Alert!

Saturday, October 10, 2026

Be advised there will be an increase of traffic on I-70 in both directions due to the K-State football game. Kickoff time is 2:30 PM. Reminder parking lots open 5 hours prior to kickoff. Expect traffic to be affected in the morning hours up until kickoff. If you plan to travel, please allow yourself extra time for other travelers and construction. There is currently construction south of I-70 on US-77. I-70 eastbound is down to one lane starting at Mile Marker 301 to Mile Marker 303. Expect delays on K-18 to I-70 post game as well.

Travel safe and remember if you plan on drinking, be responsible and don't drive drunk.

9/30/26 It's definitely cause for extra awareness and attention today as we have the remnants of a hurricane crossing our area today... there is also a Tornado Risk.
A "Tornado Watch" or a Severe Thunderstorm Watch" will more than likely find you on your Everbridge notifications. Key parts of this statement from SPC include "Timing of a Tornado Watch is uncertain (possibly between 2-8pm), but one will likely be needed at some point within the next few hours." So they are leaning toward placing us in a Tornado Watch. AND... "A few of the stronger storms may produce brief tornadoes this afternoon". Interpretation from other weather forecasters "Small tornadoes that do not last very long".
So take the risk seriously, watch for weather updates.
However our take is to be prepared. STAY WEATHER AWARE. Have a plan. Think ahead of your travel arrangements. Communicate with family or loved ones of your plans.
WATCH OUT FOR FLOODING OF ROADWAYS ESPECIALLY AFTER DARK. Turn around, Don't Drown.
