THE STORY BEHIND THE JTEDC...

The Junction Texas Economic Development Corporation has been working to support the growth of our community for more than 30 years.

The JTEDC began in 1994, when City of Junction voters approved a one-half cent sales and use tax dedicated to authorized economic development efforts. Since then, the JTEDC has helped administer projects designed to support local businesses, improve community infrastructure, and strengthen Junction’s future.

Over the years, that support has included projects such as loan guarantees for local businesses, funding facilities on the Texas Tech campus in Junction, assistance with improvements at the county airport, and support for City Park improvement projects.

Today, cost-sharing grants remain one of the primary ways the JTEDC helps eligible public and private projects move forward.

Behind every project is the same goal: to create opportunity, support local investment, and help Junction continue to grow in positive ways.

MEET OUR PRESIDENT | MICHAEL GOSNEY, MD

Michael Gosney and his wife, Donna Sheppard Gosney, returned to Kimble County in 2021 to be closer to family and once again call this community home.

Michael brings a lifetime of experience in medicine, leadership, business, and community service. After graduating from Sonora High School, attending Texas A&M University, serving in the U.S. Army, and beginning his career as a veterinarian, he went on to earn his medical degree and practice anesthesiology in Northwest Alabama for 36 years. Along the way, he also earned both a JD and MBA and remained actively involved in hospital, medical, and community leadership.

Today, Michael is proud to serve Junction with a focus on improving quality of life, supporting thoughtful growth, and helping the community prepare for future opportunities in business, transportation, recreation, housing, and workforce development.

For Michael, serving on the JTEDC is about helping ensure Junction is positioned to grow in positive, sustainable ways while preserving the things that make Kimble County such a special place to live.
