Nighttime stories with Dolly 🤍

DID YOU KNOW DOLLY CAN READ YOUR KIDS A BEDTIME STORY? 🥹📖💕

Back in 2020, during the COVID shutdowns, Dolly recorded “Goodnight with Dolly”—reading children’s books from her home in Brentwood, Tennessee. Six years later, those recordings are still bringing a little comfort to story time. ❤️

This sweet photo from Trula Lawson Early Childhood Center shows children settling down for rest time with Dolly reading to them. How precious is that? 🦋

So tonight, grab a blanket, snuggle up with your little ones, and let Dolly tell them a story. Parents and grandparents might enjoy it just as much! 😊

🎥 I’ll put the video link in the comments.

Have your kids or grandkids watched “Goodnight with Dolly”? 📚👇

Paddle artwork: “The Water Spirit” by Yaxlaháat Markayla Katchatag.

"It emphasizes that water is its own being that can be so powerful in one's healing journey. I decided to use the shape of a mini paddle because some of my most meaningful healing has happened while on the water, pulling during Canoe Journey." -Markayla Katchatag

The PFD has arrived, and if you are able, putting some, or even all, of your child’s PFD into an Alaska 529 can be a simple way to start building toward their future.

Alaska 529 savings can be used for a variety of education paths, including college, trade and technical schools, apprenticeships, and other qualified education expenses. Because the money has time to grow, those little contributions made along the way can add up.

You don’t have to have a grand vision or a big amount to start.
A little set aside today can become a gift to your child’s future self.

If you’re curious about what investing a PFD could look like for your family, Alaska 529 has a helpful PFD planner and information about getting started.

We know that reading to a child before age 5 has invaluable impact across their lifespan.. but what does reading to a baby look and feel like?

Reading to your child each day promotes their vocabulary development, comprehension, and development. The physical closeness of reading also shapes their body rhythm and connection. Through reading, relationships flourish and attachment is secured.

Reading to your child will benefit them in so many ways. Here are a few techniques to help them grow while meeting them where they’re at as the earliest readers. 🥰

It’s Election Day!
Today is the day to share your voice and vote!

The crisp air, the leaves falling, the seasons change.. which means election season is here!

It’s a good time to take a look at what’s on the ballot and get informed about what matters most to you and your family. The regular municipal election in Juneau takes place on October 6th, 2026. This year there are several offices and three propositions on the ballot.

Many people feel anxious about elections, but you don’t have to be an expert. Take a little time to learn, ask questions, have conversations, and think about what you want for your family and for the community you call home. Being informed helps us make intentional choices and use our voices in ways that reflect what we care about and what we hope to see in our community.

Your voice matters. Your vote matters. And so does the future we’re building together for our children and community.

Hey you, 🤍
Parenting can feel like a little bit of everything, all at once, all the time..

The noise, the mess, the rushing out the door, the forgotten water bottle, dirty diapers in the driveway, the bedtime negotiations… and then suddenly there’s a belly laugh, a little hand hold, a silly dance in the kitchen, or a moment that makes you stop and think.. this is the good stuff.

Somewhere in the everyday shuffle, there is so much joy tucked in too.

Take a step back and give yourself a pat on the back.

You’re doing it all, and you’re making it all happen. What a beautiful busy life you’ve created.

Proud of you. Love you,
SCC 🤍
