Every road user needs to be extra-cautious. Motorcycles, bicyclists, pedestrians - do everything possible to BE SEEN! Wear retroreflective gear and/or lights. 🛻🚛🏍🚶👩‍🦽🚴

Winter is knocking on the door, Alaska! ❄ Governor Mike Dunleavy proclaimed this week to be “Winter Weather Preparedness Week.”

Part of prepping for winter driving is to review some safe travel tips:
❄ Check Alaska 511 for road conditions before heading out
❄ Give yourself extra travel time to your destination
❄ Clear off all the snow and ice from your vehicle
❄ Turn headlights on, even during the day
❄ Allow extra room between you and the vehicle in front of you
❄ Don’t crowd the plow!

🚗 It’s National Child Passenger Safety Week!
 
Is your child’s car seat installed correctly? A properly installed car seat can help provide important protection in the event of a crash.
If you’re in the Anchorage or Mat-Su/Wasilla area, take advantage of upcoming car seat check events to have your child’s car seat inspected by a trained professional.

During 2025, members of the Alaska Child Passenger Safety Coalition reported 1,546 car seat inspections.

Only 182 of those inspections revealed correctly installed car seats.
88% of car seats inspected were found to have some form of misuse or were uninstalled, or the children were unrestrained upon arrival.
