Don't even try to go to The Wave without a permit! The fine is up to $100,000, and there is usually a park ranger on the trail checking your permit.

The permit covers up to 6 people, including whoever applied for it, but here's the part that trips people up: if you win with a group of 6 and later decide to hire a guide, that guide doesn't count toward your 6, since a guide's name never goes on the permit itself.
