Just a reminder that alternate parking starts tomorrow.

ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING BEGINS OCTOBER 15

As we head into the cold season, the Borough of Kane reminds residents that Alternate Side Parking goes into effect beginning October 15. To help keep streets clear for plowing and emergency access, parking is permitted only on one side of the street on alternating days according to Borough ordinance Chapter 242:

Even‑Numbered Days (after 5:00 p.m.)
Park on the east and south sides of designated streets.

Odd‑Numbered Days (after 5:00 p.m.)
Park on the north and west sides of designated streets.
These restrictions remain in effect from October 15 through April 15 each year.

Parking Changeover Times for Moving Vehicles
The move over period is from 4 PM to 6 PM each day. During this time, residents may move vehicles to the correct side.

Non-Motorized Units Prohibited
Trailers of any type, campers, boats or any nonmotorized equipment and those which are normally pulled, by a motorized vehicle are not allowed to be parked on any street between October 15 and April 15.

Fines & Penalties
Violations 1–5: $15
Violations 6+: $25
$5 discount if paid within 72 hours
After 14 days, a citation is filed with the District Magistrate ($50–$600 per occurrence)
Keeping vehicles parked on the correct side helps our Public Works team clear snow safely and efficiently. Thank you for doing your part to keep Kane moving all winter long.

The Borough of Kane, PA is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Student Resource Officer (SRO). This part‑time role is ideal for retired or current law enforcement professionals who want to continue serving their community in a meaningful, relationship‑focused capacity. If not SRO certified, training will be provided by the Borough of Kane.
The SRO will be assigned primarily to the Kane Area School District during the Elementary, Middle, and High School calendar year and have the opportunity working part time for the Borough of Kane Police Department.

Report writing and documentation
Conflict intervention and de-escalation
Traffic control during school hours
Emergency response and threat assessment
Student counseling and support
Building trust and positive relationships with students and staff
Qualifications
Act 120 certification required
Retired or current law enforcement experience preferred
Strong communication skills and a community‑minded approach
Ability to work collaboratively with school personnel and Borough staff

Reminder, with school starting tomorrow, alternate side parking starts tonight on Hemlock Ave from Route 66 (South Fraley) to Pennsylvania Ave. And no parking on West Hemlock in the afternoon from 2:20pm until 3:20pm.

Just a friendly reminder. Bicycles of any kind are not to be ridden on the sidewalk on Fraley street. With the influx of people this wkend there are a lot of people uptown. Please get off and push your bike if on the sidewalk uptown.

She was found along route 6 between Kane and lantz corners, closer to Kane. If this is your dog or know who she might belong to, please contact PSP Lewis run barracks.
