Windward Community College had the opportunity to welcome students from the oldest public high school west of the Rocky Mountains—Lahainaluna High School!

Juniors and seniors from Lahainaluna’s Kaiapuni (Hawaiian immersion) program visited our campus today to tour our programs and learn about opportunities in higher education.

During their visit, Chancellor Ardis Eschenberg shared her personal experience raising two children who attended Hawaiian immersion schools and spoke about the importance of supporting Kaiapuni students as they transition into college while continuing their connection to ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi and Hawaiian culture.

The students also shared hula and mele during their time on campus.

Taking the next step toward a bachelor’s degree!

Windward CC student connected with representatives from UH Mānoa, UH Hilo, and UH West O‘ahu at today’s UH Transfer Day at Windward Community College.

From learning about degree programs to asking questions about transfer pathways, students had the opportunity to explore what’s next in their educational journeys.

A little Halloween magic for our keiki! 🎃✨

Keiki and ʻohana gathered this past Friday for Kikini o Lapu (Trick or Treat), a Halloween celebration hosted by our Hānaiaulu program at Windward CC!

The evening was filled with trick-or-treating, games and activities for keiki, creative costumes, festive table displays, contests, refreshments, and plenty of smiles!

What is artificial intelligence, and how is it shaping our world?

Join Windward Community College Library for a FREE screening of Ghost in the Machine, a documentary by filmmaker Valerie Veatch that takes a critical look at the history of artificial intelligence and its growing influence on society.

Each screening will be followed by a discussion facilitated by WCC librarian Tawny Bright.

Two opportunities to watch:

Homecoming spirit was in full swing at Roosevelt High School yesterday as excited seniors gathered to celebrate Rough Rider pride and new opportunities!

Windward Community College Chancellor Dr. Ardis Eschenberg joined UH President Wendy Hensel, Hawai‘i DOE Superintendent Keith Hayashi, and fellow UH chancellors to kick off the second year of Direct2UH!

The statewide initiative gives Hawai‘i public high school seniors a streamlined pathway to all 10 UH campuses, making higher education more accessible.

From the Ko‘olau to communities across Hawai‘i, we’re proud to help open doors for the next generation.

Sharing ʻike across generations.

This past Saturday, Gallery ʻIolani welcomed visitors for a special walkthrough of ʻAI MAMA with ʻŌlohe G. ʻUmi Kai, one of the master cultural practitioners featured in the exhibition.

Throughout the afternoon, ʻUmi shared personal stories, reflections and insights into the cultural practices and traditions that have shaped his life’s work. Visitors had the opportunity to hear directly from him while viewing photographs, cultural objects and other works featured in the exhibition.

Mahalo to ʻŌlohe ʻUmi Kai for sharing his ʻike and to everyone who joined us for this meaningful afternoon of learning and connection.

ʻAI MAMA is on view through December 11, 2026, at Gallery ʻIolani at Windward Community College. Admission is free.
