We want to take a moment to shout out Jacob Lohse for his assistance with sand blasting our flag pole during our restoration project. Jacob runs his own company, Vahalla Mobile Blasting LLC. His help and the help of our members made this project turn out beautifully!

Joint Training: Vehicle Extrication

Last night, members of the Kaneville Fire Protection District and Big Rock Fire Protection District came together for a joint training focused on vehicle extrication.

This hands-on training provided firefighters with the opportunity to practice essential extrication techniques, strengthen their skills with rescue equipment, and improve coordination between departments.

Training together ensures that our firefighters are better prepared to work efficiently and safely when seconds matter.

A special thank you to Lovetts Towing & Recovery for lending us vehicles to train with! As well as a special thank you to Kaprice Stemple for the personal donation of her vehicle! We sincerely appreciate the generosity of our community members and local businesses. Their continued support allows our firefighters to gain valuable hands-on experience and better prepare for the emergencies we may face.

Our Kaneville Fire Protection District candidates spent time this Sunday morning learning and practicing essential ground ladder skills.

Ground ladders are a fundamental part of firefighting operations, and developing confidence with them starts with mastering the basics. Candidates worked on proper ladder carries, raises, placement, climbing, and safe operating techniques.

Training like this helps build the skills, teamwork, and confidence our candidates will rely on throughout their fire service careers.

Great work by our candidates and the members who took the time to help train the next generation of KFPD firefighters!

Joint Training | Grain Bin & Farm Rescue

Last night, members of the Kaneville Fire Protection District recently joined the Big Rock Fire Protection District and Maple Park Fire Protection District for a collaborative training focused on grain bin rescue and agricultural emergencies.

Crews worked together on the unique challenges associated with grain bins, including rescue operations, victim removal, and hazards responders may encounter when operating around grain storage facilities. The training also covered additional hazards involving farm machinery and agricultural equipment, giving firefighters an opportunity to discuss rescue techniques, scene safety, and specialized considerations for incidents on local farms.

With agriculture being such an important part of the communities we serve, training for these low-frequency, high-risk incidents is essential. Joint trainings also gives our departments the opportunity to strengthen communication and teamwork before we are called to work together during a real emergency.

A big thank you to the members of Big Rock FPD, Maple Park FPD, and Kaneville FPD who participated and helped make this training possible.
