PURPLE THURSDAY — OCTOBER 15, 2026
WEAR PURPLE. STAND TOGETHER. MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Thursday, October 15, 2026, is widely observed as Purple Thursday (Wear Purple Day) a national day of action when people wear purple to show solidarity with survivors of domestic violence and raise awareness.
The Kankakee County Recorder’s Office, in collaboration with Harbor House – Kankakee County Coalition Against Domestic Violence, stands united in support of survivors and in our commitment to building a safer, stronger community.
WHY WE WEAR PURPLE
Behind closed doors, someone may be experiencing abuse in silence. Today, we wear purple to remind survivors that they are not alone, that support is available, and that they deserve to live free from fear and violence.
TOGETHER, WE CAN:
Raise awareness and break the silence.
Offer compassion without judgment.
Help connect survivors with resources and support.
Educate our community and promote healthy, safe relationships.
Stand beside those who need a voice, a helping hand, or hope for a brighter future.
Through collaboration, education, and community outreach, Harbor House – Kankakee County Coalition Against Domestic Violence is helping shine a light to our friends to show that and that you are not alone.
YOUR VOICE MATTERS. YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS. EVERY SURVIVOR MATTERS.
Let's turn awareness into action and work together toward a future free from domestic violence.
