Seeing more bats around lately?
Late summer and early fall are when bats are more active, so it's not unusual to spot one around your home.

If a bat gets inside, don't try to catch or handle it. Instead, call Kansas City Animal Control at 816-513-1313 or 311 for assistance. Stay safe and give bats plenty of space.

Measles cases are rising across parts of the Midwest, though there are no reported cases in Kansas City.

Measles is highly contagious and symptoms can include a high fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a rash. Young children, pregnant women, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems are at greater risk for complications.

KCHD does not conduct measles testing but the MMR vaccine is available on site. Call ahead before visiting a clinic, urgent care, or ER if you suspect measles to help prevent exposure to others.
