Thank you, Ashley!

Your encouragement, expertise, and willingness to jump in alongside others make Crestview stronger every day. You push us to grow, celebrate our wins, and remind us that great coaches don’t just tell—they model, support, and inspire. We are so lucky to have you on Team Crestview!

Great teaching grows through collaboration, and our instructional coaches are there every step of the way. 🍎

They listen, brainstorm, model new strategies, celebrate progress, and help educators turn ideas into meaningful learning experiences for students. On Instructional Coaches Day, we’re thanking the NKC Schools team members who support growth across our classrooms and remind teachers that they never have to tackle a challenge alone.

Your encouragement and expertise make a difference for educators and students alike. We appreciate you!

Thank you, Coach Brown, Coach Rever, and Coach Adair! You make Crestview stronger every day through the relationships you build, the energy you bring, and the way you encourage our Cheetahs to be their very best. We are lucky to have you on our team!

On Coaches Day, we’re celebrating the NKC Schools coaches who give their time, knowledge and heart to helping students grow both in competition and in life. From early practices and late games to every pep talk, high five and teachable moment in between, your impact reaches far beyond the scoreboard. Thank you for believing in our students and bringing out their best. Happy Coaches Day!

🎬 CRESTVIEW WENT HOLLYWOOD! 🎥

We’ve been keeping a pretty exciting secret from our Crestview community…

This summer, Crestview Elementary became a movie set!

For one 12-hour filming day, our building was transformed into “Crestview Academy” for the filming of the feature film The Swimming Lesson, starring Kansas City native and former Saturday Night Live cast member Heidi Gardner. William H. Macy is also part of the film’s cast.

Nearly 100 cast and crew members filled Crestview as cameras, lighting, sound equipment, props, wardrobe, and production equipment took over the building.

And they used a LOT of Crestview!

Scenes were filmed outside the school, including parking and driving a truck, as well as throughout the building. A father and son arrive at Crestview Academy, enter the school and meet the principal. Other scenes take them upstairs above The Canyon (our library), through the Ocean Biome, and into our Cross-Categorical classrooms.

One of the most meaningful parts of the experience was how intentionally the production wanted to represent students with diverse learning needs, including students with autism.

Rather than creating a classroom that simply looked like a specialized learning environment, they used the actual learning environment our students experience every day at Crestview. Our classrooms, spaces, materials, and supports were authentically used to portray a school designed to include and support students with a wide range of strengths and needs.

What audiences will eventually see on screen reflects some of the real spaces our staff have intentionally created so all students belong, grow, and thrive.

And Crestview even has a staff member in the movie! Mr. Hartley was asked to be an extra playing the secretary at Crestview Academy. Keep your eyes open when the movie is released...you might recognize our school and maybe even our principal sitting behind the front desk!

Now comes the fun part: waiting to see which scenes make the final cut and spotting all the familiar places when The Swimming Lesson makes it to the big screen!

Pretty cool to see Crestview and what makes our school special become part of a movie!

The building was full of learning today! Students were diving into their book boxes, getting lost in great books, and working hard across the building.

What a great way to wrap up our first week together!

Have a wonderful, restful weekend, Cheetahs!

08/27/2026

Our Cheetahs have filled the building with smiles, laughter, learning, and so much energy. Classrooms are building their communities, friendships are forming, routines are taking shape, and we are already seeing our students ready to learn and grow.

We are so grateful to our staff, students, and families for helping us start the 2026–27 school year strong!

Two days down and so much ahead. It’s going to be a GREAT year at Crestview!

08/22/2026

Our Crestview staff joined together at NKC Convocation to officially launch the 2026–27 school year!

There’s nothing like having our Cheetahs together, celebrating our district, reconnecting, and getting energized for the year ahead.

We’re ready to be FAST. FOCUSED. FEARLESS. as we chase excellence for EVERY Cheetah!

Together we belong. Together we grow. Together we thrive.
