Learning isn't just about what happens academically.

For students with ADHD, challenges with executive function and emotional regulation can affect organization, time management, focus, task completion and the ability to navigate the demands of high school.

Understanding those challenges changes the conversation. Instead of asking why a student isn't keeping up, educators can ask what barriers are getting in the way and what support could help remove them.

Effective education recognizes that students don't all learn, organize and manage demands in the same way.

Supporting the whole learner means designing environments where different needs are understood rather than overlooked.

There isn't one roadmap for bringing AI into K-12 education.

Different districts have different resources, priorities, communities and starting points. What matters is having a thoughtful strategy for moving forward.

The districts that stay ahead of the AI curve won't necessarily be the ones adopting the most tools the fastest. They'll be the ones asking the right questions: What problem are we solving? What do educators and students actually need? How do we evaluate impact? And how do we make responsible adoption sustainable?

AI in education is moving quickly. Strategic decision-making matters even more.

AI may promise to make special education tasks faster, but faster doesn't always mean better.

When AI is used to help draft IEP goals, summarize student data, or create documentation, it introduces risks that must be considered to protect sensitive student information, check for bias and inaccuracies, and maintain a clear record of the human judgment behind the final IEP.

The student should always remain at the center of the process.
