I would like to take a moment to address a recent Facebook post circulating regarding the Kaplan Police Department, myself, and our city officials.
First and foremost, I do not know who is behind this profile, nor is this individual affiliated with me, my position as Chief of Police, or the Kaplan Police Department in any official capacity.
While I appreciate those who support our department and recognize the hard work and dedication of our officers, I want to make it very clear that I do not condone bullying, personal attacks, or attempts to create division within our community.
I have also recently received a threatening phone call in what I believe was an attempt to intimidate and bully both myself and my department. Let me be very clear: I will not tolerate threats, intimidation, or bullying directed toward myself or the men and women who serve this community. We work too hard and sacrifice too much to be subjected to this type of behavior.
I have never been one to engage in Facebook drama, and I certainly do not support using social media as a platform to stir up negativity, spread division, or disrespect others.
There is a proper and professional way to address concerns and differences of opinion. I believe in open communication, mutual respect, and working together for the betterment of our department and the citizens we serve.
My focus has always been, and will continue to be, leading the Kaplan Police Department with professionalism, integrity, and respect. I will not allow someone else’s words or actions to speak on my behalf, misrepresent where I stand, or undermine the dedication of my officers.
I welcome constructive criticism and honest conversations, but threats, intimidation, and public bullying have no place in moving our community forward.
Supporting law enforcement should never come at the expense of tearing others down. Respect is a two-way street, and I intend to continue leading by example.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support our officers and our mission.
