Firsthand view of a landing zone during an injury motorcycle crash in Barnes County today.

In a rural state like North Dakota, we’re fortunate to have air medical crews ready to respond when every minute matters. In this crash, neither motorcycle occupant was wearing a helmet.

As you travel this Fourth of July weekend, take the extra time to get to your destination safely. Slow down, stay focused, wear your helmet if you’re riding, and make choices that help ensure everyone gets home safe.

Remember those intense storms on June 20th, 2025, that impacted greater Barnes County!? It produced the derecho and tornado? Yeah, that wasn’t fun…

Take the Barnes County Mitigation Survey to share your experience from that event to assist in development of the county’s updated mitigation plan. Or, if you have more recent experiences pertaining to severe weather, please take the survey!
