☀️🔥 HEAT ILLNESS CAN HAPPEN FAST 🔥☀️
With rising temperatures across our community, Willowfork Fire Department wants everyone to stay alert and protect themselves from heat-related illnesses this summer.

🚰 Drink plenty of water — even if you’re not thirsty
🧢 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing
🌳 Take breaks in the shade or air conditioning
🚫 Never leave children or pets in a vehicle
🏃 Limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat hours
👀 Watch for signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke

⚠️ Signs of Heat Illness Include:
Dizziness
Heavy sweating
Nausea
Headache
Rapid pulse
Confusion or loss of consciousness
If someone shows signs of heat stroke, call 911 immediately.

Check on elderly neighbors, young children, and anyone working outdoors. Together, we can keep our community safe this summer. 💙

As temperatures rise, more families are heading to the pool. Willowfork Fire Department wants to remind everyone that a few simple precautions can prevent a tragedy.
✅ Never leave children unattended near water
✅ Designate a “Water Watcher” when kids are swimming
✅ Install barriers and self-latching gates around pools
✅ Keep rescue equipment and a phone nearby
✅ Learn CPR — seconds matter in an emergency
✅ Avoid distractions like phones while supervising swimmers
Drowning can happen quickly and silently — even experienced swimmers need supervision.

🚒 Willowfork firefighters responded to a reported kitchen fire on Angel Gate Ct. this morning. Crews arrived quickly and were able to extinguish the fire before it could spread.

Two occupants were evaluated and treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. The incident remains under investigation.

⚡️ Lightning Strike Causes Major House Fire During Severe Thunderstorm

On the evening of June 2, a strong thunderstorm moved through the Cinco Ranch area, bringing heavy rain, frequent lightning, and dangerous weather conditions. Beginning around 5:00 p.m., emergency dispatchers received multiple reports of lightning strikes affecting both residential and commercial properties throughout the area.

At 5:31 p.m., a structure fire was reported in the 27000 block of Mayfield Ridge Lane. At the time of the call, fire units from Willowfork, Katy, and Fulshear Fire Departments were already operating throughout the area on storm-related incidents and immediately responded to the reported house fire.

Fire units arrived within six minutes of the 911 call and found heavy fire conditions with flames extending through the roof of a two-story residence. Firefighters quickly initiated an aggressive interior attack on the second floor and attic space in an effort to contain the fire. Despite their efforts, rapidly deteriorating conditions forced crews to evacuate the structure and transition to a defensive firefighting operation.

Due to the intense radiant heat generated by the fire, neighboring homes on both sides of the residence were cooled and closely monitored to prevent fire extension. Fire crews successfully protected the adjacent structures and prevented the fire from spreading.

Three firefighters sustained minor injuries while operating at the scene. Two firefighters were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital for evaluation and treatment and were later released.

We would like to thank our regional partners for their assistance during this incident, including Katy, Fulshear, ESD 48, Houston, Community VFD, Westlake, Fort Bend Fire Marshall’s Office, and Fort Bend Co. EMS. Their support and cooperation were instrumental in bringing this challenging incident under control.

Residents are reminded that severe thunderstorms can create numerous hazards, including lightning-related fires. If a structure is struck by lightning, occupants should remain alert for signs of smoke, fire, or electrical damage and immediately call 911 if concerns arise.

Our crew made it back home on Friday after a week in Amarillo helping with wildfires in the area. Great job guys!

🔥 Wildfires erupted across the Amarillo area this week, scorching thousands of acres and threatening nearby homes and communities. Strike Team 158, including Willowfork Booster 82 alongside crews from East Montgomery County, New Waverly, Spring, and Galveston, deployed last night to assist with the response efforts.

At approximately 8:30 this morning, the crews arrived at the Oxbow Fire, which was last reported at 1,000 acres and 60% contained.
