Kayenta Alternative Rural Hospital
Domestic Hot Water Service Interruption
July 27, 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kayenta, Arizona – Kayenta Alternative Rural Hospital (KARH) is currently experiencing a temporary interruption to domestic hot water service throughout the hospital.
Domestic hot water was shut off over the weekend to complete a planned replacement of a critical mechanical component. During installation, the new component was found to be defective, preventing restoration of hot water service. A replacement has been ordered and will be installed after normal business hours upon arrival to minimize disruption to hospital operations.
At this time, only limited hospital services have been impacted. Select departments are contacting patients with scheduled appointments to reschedule as necessary. A limited number of procedures have been postponed, and no new inpatient admissions will be accepted until domestic hot water service has been restored. All other hospital services continue to operate while temporary measures remain in place. Emergency services remain available, and patients with questions about upcoming appointments are encouraged to contact their clinic directly.
Patient safety remains our highest priority. Hospital leadership, Facilities Management, and clinical staff continue to work together to restore service as quickly and safely as possible. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our patients, visitors, and community during this temporary service interruption.
Additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
For questions or additional information, please contact Brandon Smith, Public Information Officer, at (928) 697-5301.
