It’s almost soup season!
Our annual Soup & Chili Cook-Off is coming up November 12th! Come hungry, sample some delicious soups and chilis, vote for your favorites, and check out the silent auction while you’re here. Doors open at 4:30, sampling start at 5:00 pm. We hope to see you there!

All proceeds benefit our Family Self-Sufficiency program, helping families build stronger futures.

When local organizations set up in the same room, finding help gets a lot simpler. CommUNITY Fest is back on Tuesday, October 13 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds, and United Way of the Kearney Area is bringing together nonprofits, clubs, and businesses that can answer questions and take applications right there.

We designed the setup this way because needs rarely come one at a time, and someone looking for groceries this week may also be job hunting or trying to sort out a utility bill.

The Kearney Housing Agency is issuing a Request for Bids from interested parties for Snow Removal at all owned and managed sites. The snow removal is for edge-to-edge cleaning of all sidewalk areas and parking areas at all 5 locations to include Gibbon and Minden. Locations may be bid separately.

Bids packets are available at the Kearney Housing Agency Office located at 2715 Avenue I, Kearney, NE 68847 or via [email protected]. The Housing Agency reserves the right to reject any or all bids; and to waive irregularities or informalities to accept the Bids it deems most beneficial.

The Housing Agency will accept Bids, submitted via email to the [email protected], mailed to or dropped off at the Kearney Housing Office. Bids will be accepted until 12:00 p.m. on October 22, 2026. No Bids received after the specified time will be accepted.

Our Office Hours have changed!

Our office is now open to the public Monday–Thursday from 8:30 AM–4:00 PM. On Fridays, the office will be available by appointment only, but our staff will still be here and available by phone.

A few important things to know:
• You can still reach staff by phone Monday–Friday from 7:30 AM–4:30 PM.
• Meals will continue to be served Monday–Friday.
• The EBW Pavilion will remain open Monday–Friday from 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
• Our Maintenance Department will continue completing work orders on Fridays.
• Rent, Paperwork and other documents can be left in the secure drop box located outside our office doors.

While our front doors will have limited access on Fridays, our team will still be working and available to assist you!

This year the event will be held in the Exhibit building and host at least 60 different nonprofits and services available in the Kearney area.
