A HUGE thank you to Senator Jerry Moran and Congressman Derek Schmidt for your continued and unwavering efforts to move the Criminal History Access Act through the House and Senate and toward the President’s desk for signature!

This legislation represents a significant step forward for POST agencies across the nation. Direct access to Criminal History Record Information from the FBI is an invaluable tool that will strengthen our ability to conduct thorough, timely, and informed background reviews of those seeking to serve as law enforcement officers.

For KSCPOST and POST agencies nationwide, this access will further our shared mission of ensuring that the men and women entrusted with the authority to protect and serve our communities meet the highest standards of qualification, integrity, professionalism, and character.

The badge carries tremendous authority and an even greater responsibility. The public deserves to know that those entrusted to wear it have been thoroughly vetted and meet the standards required to hold such a sacred position within our society.

Thank you, Senator Moran and Congressman Schmidt, for your leadership and commitment to making our communities safer and strengthening the law enforcement profession across the country

If you are in law enforcement you NEED to check out Dr. Ben Stone’s website about cardiac health as it relates to LEO’s:

https://benjaminstonespeaks.com/

Those of you who know me, know I’m not an alarmist and am skeptical by nature, but the facts Dr. Stone presented today about the monumental disparity in cardiac disease in law enforcement compared to the general public were beyond alarming! And to make matters even more concerning, the traditional clinical markers (HDL, LDL, Triglycerides, etc) do NOT tell the whole story when it comes to LEO’s so, many of us have a significant risk for a cardiac event and don’t know it and your primary care Doc doesn’t either!

This is across the board for male, female and any race…if you are in law enforcement, statistically you have a significantly higher risk that may be undiagnosed.

But he also presented how to easily get a proper panel completed to look at the markers that are a much better indicator of cardiac disease/event risk.

PLEASE check out his website! All of his presentation material is available there along with citations for the studies backing the information.

Do yourself, your spouse, your children and your friends a solid and get tested and respond accordingly!

Thank you to the Kansas Peace Officers Association for bringing Dr. Stone to this year’s conference! It will undoubtedly save one, if not more, of our lives!

Take a look at the latest KSCPOST Spotlight:

As many of you are aware from the March edition of the KSCPOST Spotlight, the KSCPOST Handgun Qualification Course was recently codified in a Kansas Administrative Regulation (KAR). Unfortunately, after publication, an observant officer identified typographical errors in the regulation.
