Some of the best meals are made from the puzzle pieces of leftovers!

Label your leftovers with the date you made them. This can help you prioritize when you use them and allow you to organize them from newest to oldest. Same goes for produce. You don't need anything fancy! Just some tape and a marker.

Instead of buying lunch at work or school, save time and money and plan to take leftovers a few days a week.

My husband and I attended Salem Fire Department’s Open House today at Station 6. This is the Salem Airport station. I saw some great specialty equipment, folks from Salem Housing Authority, CERT, and Willamette Valley 911 dispatch.
It’s great to be in partnership with Salem and Marion County Fire as we serve our citizens!

This October, the Salem Police Department is lighting Equitas, the art piece in front of our building, in purple to recognize National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Since 1989, October has been officially designated as a time to bring communities together to end domestic violence. This month allows us to mourn those who have lost their lives due to domestic violence, celebrate survivors, connect individuals in need with local resources, and raise awareness about what domestic violence is and how to recognize it.

We stand with our community in support of this important cause and encourage everyone to learn more and get involved.

This award will enhance the partnerships across our Keizer/Salem/Marion County area! Congratulations!

🔥 Carrying the Torch: 40 Years & Beyond

It’s National Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Week! From September 20–26, we’re celebrating 40 years of CERT and recognizing the dedicated volunteers who help make communities across Oregon safer, stronger and more prepared.

Oregon is home to 50+ active CERT programs, where trained volunteers learn skills like:
🏥 Disaster medical operations
🔥 Fire safety
🔎 Light search and rescue
🤝 Team organization and disaster response

CERT volunteers also support exercises, community events, emergency operations and preparedness education throughout the year.

More than 60 CERT volunteers are also helping Oregonians prepare as Be 2 Weeks Ready Program Coordinators!

When disaster strikes, neighbors may be the first people able to help one another. CERT gives community members the knowledge and skills to take safe action until additional help arrives.

👏 This , we thank Oregon’s CERT volunteers for carrying the torch of preparedness — and inspiring the next generation to get involved.

“Space, the final frontier.” Make sure you use space heaters wisely!!

Riddle us this, Riddler.

Colder nights are ahead and many of us are pulling out a heater for the first time this fall. It is important to be safe when heating your home. It's the number two cause of home fires in Oregon.
