Our firefighters worked hard to get the fire under control and protect the surrounding property.

🙏 Thank you to all of our firefighters and mutual-aid partners for their hard work on this fire. We appreciate everyone who answered the call and worked together to get the job done.
🔥 Stay safe, and please remember—illegal burning can quickly get out of control, especially in dry conditions. Remember we are under a Burn Ban!

As hunters head outdoors this weekend, remember that many activities associated with hunting and camping can accidentally start a wildfire.

Vehicles, trailers, ATVs/UTVs and campfires can all cause wildfires when conditions are dry.

Before heading out...
🔥 Check local burn bans and restrictions
🔥Avoid driving or parking on dry grass
🔥Make sure trailer chains don’t drag on the road
🔥Always fully extinguish campfires before leaving

With firefighters currently responding to wildfires across Texas, everyone can do their part to help prevent the next one.

Thank you city of kemp employee!

Thank you Justin and Aiden with Kemp Public Works. While working today in the ice, they noticed smoke coming from a barn off Elm Street. Both stopped and attempted to put it out but had to notify Kemp Fire Department because it had gotten too large. Due to their quick actions a much more dangerous situation was averted.

The SH 274 bridge at Kings Creek is a solid sheet of ice. We’ve had two accidents on it within the last few minutes. Please use caution if you are out. Early today the roads were in good shape but they are rapidly becoming hazardous. If you do not have to get out, please don’t.
