🚨 SPECIAL COMMUNITY ALERT – SCAMS TARGETING SENIOR CITIZENS
The Kenilworth Police Department would like to remind our senior residents—and their family members and caregivers—to remain especially vigilant against scams designed to create fear, urgency, or confusion.
Scammers may impersonate a grandchild or other family member, law enforcement officer, government agency, utility company, financial institution, or other trusted organization. They may claim that a loved one has been arrested or injured, that an account has been compromised, or that immediate payment is required to prevent some type of emergency.
Please remember:
• Never allow yourself to be pressured into sending money immediately.
• Be extremely suspicious of requests for payment through gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, cash applications, or large amounts of cash.
• Never provide banking information, passwords, Social Security numbers, or verification codes to an unsolicited caller.
• If someone claims a family member is in trouble, hang up and contact that family member—or another trusted relative—directly using a telephone number you already know.
• Do not rely solely on the caller ID displayed on your phone.
• When in doubt, stop the conversation and verify the information independently before sending any money.
Family members are encouraged to have these conversations with older relatives before a scam occurs. Taking a few minutes today to discuss common warning signs may prevent someone you care about from becoming a victim.
If you believe you or a family member may be the target of a scam, contact the Kenilworth Police Department before sending money or providing sensitive information.
🍂 Community Reminder – Fall Home & Vehicle Security

Residents should continue to report suspicious persons, vehicles, or activity to the Kenilworth Police Department. When safe to do so, details such as clothing descriptions, vehicle descriptions, license plates, and direction of travel can be extremely helpful to responding officers.
