A Special Evening of Gratitude, Kindness, and Unity!

Nik’s Pizza and the Quality Inn staff provided delicious food for our police department’s monthly meeting, and we are incredibly grateful for their kindness and support.

Speaking of kindness and support…my amazing KPD family surprised me with Batman gifts and an incredible Batman cake for Boss’s Day, which is officially tomorrow. They certainly caught me off guard…but surprises are a wonderful thing! The cake looked so amazing that I didn’t want to cut it. However, once I did, let’s just say I may be carrying a couple of extra pounds to work tomorrow! LOL.

Tonight was truly special, and I am fortunate to work alongside such wonderful, selfless servants who are dedicated to helping others and serving this great community. Thank you…team, for all you do and for making this evening so memorable!

🚔 Operation Crash Reduction

The Kenly Police Department will be participating in the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program (NCGHSP) Operation Crash Reduction Campaign during the week of October 12–18, 2026.

Throughout the campaign, Kenly Police Officers will be actively monitoring our roadways and looking for traffic violations and unsafe driving behaviors that contribute to crashes and place motorists, pedestrians, and other road users at risk.

Officers will be focusing on violations such as:
🚗 Speeding and other moving violations
📵 Distracted driving
🛑 Failure to obey traffic signals and signs
🔒 Seat belt violations
🍺 Impaired driving
👀 Other unsafe driving behaviors

This campaign is not simply about writing citations—it is about preventing crashes, reducing injuries, and keeping our community safe.

We encourage everyone traveling through Kenly to slow down, buckle up, put the phone away, drive sober, and remain alert to those around you.

Drive Safe. Arrive Safe.

GKE Fall Festival…Fun, Laughter & Community!

Officer Maron, Officer Watson, and Officer Medlin had a great time at the Glendale Kenly Elementary Fall Festival this evening! It was especially exciting to see several of our young folks put on one of our police vests and immediately start doing push-ups!

We may have some future KPD officers in the making! They definitely showed us that they are Kenly Proud and Kenly Strong!

Thank you to everyone who came out and made this evening so special, and a big thank you to GKE for inviting the Kenly Police Department to be a part of this wonderful event. We always enjoy spending time with our community and, most importantly, our young people!

Happy National Coffee Day!

Today….we celebrate the world’s favorite caffeinated beverage! Major Dixon and Officer Reed started their morning off right with a stop at 2nd Street Coffee…and, of course, they had to grab a picture with the owner, Stephanie!

Good coffee, good people, and a great way to start the morning!

The Best Gifts Are the Unexpected Ones!

Yesterday…Operation Director Ashley Fordyce and her little assistant from Vision Church stopped by KPD with some delicious cake bites prepared by their Kids Ministry.

But after a closer look at the picture, we quickly realized that her little assistant wasn’t really the assistant at all…he made it very clear that he’s actually the BOSS of the whole operation when it comes to showing love and kindness!

Thank you to this little boss, Ashley, and the entire Vision Church family for being outreach driven and committed to showing love, kindness, and support to those in our community.

And let’s not forget the most important part… thank you for the treats! They definitely helped make our day a little sweeter!

Another Great Addition to Friendly Kenly!

Today, KPD had the honor and pleasure of attending the ribbon cutting ceremony for our new pickleball courts right here in Friendly Kenly!

From the visionary stage to making this project a reality, it took hard work, teamwork, and strong leadership from our Mayor, Town Council, Town Manager, Parks & Recreation Director Chris Batten, and his dedicated staff. Their efforts are helping make Kenly a better place to live, work, and enjoy.

This is about more than pickleball, it’s about improving the quality of life in our community and creating recreational opportunities for the whole family. So, come on out, grab a paddle, bring the family, and have some fun on our new courts. They really look great!

And, of course, every great ribbon cutting needs a star!
This little four legged celebrity absolutely stole the show with his red bow tie, perfectly matching the ribbon! After striking a pose for the camera, he officially gave the new pickleball courts his approval….lol.

Friendly Kenly continues to grow, and today was another reminder of what can happen when our community works together. We’re proud to be part of it…and we can’t wait to see these courts filled with laughter, friendly competition, and Kenly families making memories!

Kenly Strong, Kenly Proud & Kenly Moving Forward!

Traffic Stop Leads to Ma*****na Arrest

On Friday, September 18, 2026, Kenly Police Department Officer Watson conducted a traffic stop on S. Church Street for a seatbelt violation.

During the investigation, Officer Watson developed probable cause to conduct a search. The driver was identified as Justin Cordale Kenan. A search of Kenan’s person resulted in approximately 67.5 grams of ma*****na and a quantity of U.S. currency being located. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in a sh***un being located inside the trunk.

Kenan was taken into custody and charged with Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Ma*****na, Felony Possession of Ma*****na, Felony Maintaining a Vehicle for the Storage or Sale of a Controlled Substance, and a seatbelt violation.

Kenan was transported to the Johnston County Detention Center, where he received a $10,000 secured bond. Ofc. Watson was assisted in this investigation by Ofc. Maron.

Please remember that all charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The Kenly Police Department remains committed to proactive enforcement and keeping our streets and community safe.

Double Trouble at Town Hall!

Today, Joyce Overman and Joyce Moore stopped by Town Hall with a wonderful donation of blankets and stuffed animals to be shared with children in our community, on behalf of the Women’s Auxiliary of Kenly Free Will Baptist Church.

And yes…everyone knows my favorite is the police dog! Who would have guessed it…lol

Two Joyces at Town Hall at the same time? Can anyone say DOUBLE TROUBLE! These two special ladies had everyone laughing and having a blast!

A huge thank you to the Women’s Auxiliary, Joyce Overman, and Joyce Moore for your kindness, generosity, and love for our community. You ladies are truly special!

Looking Ahead Together for a Brighter Future

Earlier today, Councilman Dennis Moore represented the Town of Kenly at the State of the Region Triangle Event.

The event brought together business leaders, community leaders, educators, developers, and stakeholders to discuss regional growth, infrastructure, economic development, and the future of Johnston County.

These conversations are important as we work together to prepare our communities for continued growth and ensure a strong future for our residents and businesses.

Thank you, Councilman Moore, for representing Kenly and being engaged in these important conversations.

Kenly Proud & Kenly Strong. Building for tomorrow.
