🎉 Vista Families: It’s Time for Our Color War! 🎉
Because our school reached the $10,000 fundraising milestone, students earned a Color War! Thank you for helping make this celebration possible!
Our Color War will take place tomorrow, Friday, October 16, at 2:45 p.m. in the bus area. Each participating student will receive a packet of colored powder. Families are welcome to come watch!
Immediately afterward, Mr. Fickel will get slimed by the staff and students who secured sponsors for our Jog-a-Thon T-shirts! You won’t want to miss it!
What should students wear?
Please send your student in clothing and shoes you don’t mind getting stained. The company reports that the powder washes out of most clothing, but some materials may stain. 100% cotton clothing is recommended.
About the powder
According to the manufacturer, the powder is made from gluten-free cornstarch, food-coloring dyes, and baking soda. The company states that its dyes are FD&C and/or D&C approved and that the powder does not contain dairy, nuts, wheat, soy, or other common allergens. More information is available at www.wholesalecolorpowder.com.
Cleanup tips from the company:
Shake off excess powder before adding water or washing clothing. Machine washing with stain remover typically removes the color.
Normal soap and water should remove powder from skin and hair, though some color may linger for a few days, especially in blonde hair.
To help reduce staining, the company suggests applying moisturizer to skin and a small amount of coconut or olive oil to hair before the event.
Participation is optional.
Students who do not wish to participate will enjoy extra recess in an area away from the powder. Students may choose this option themselves. If you want to ensure your student does not participate, please notify their classroom teacher before the event.
There will also be a viewing area closer to the Color War. Please keep in mind that powder may drift through the air into that area.
We look forward to a colorful celebration of our school community’s generosity! 💙
