Located in the heart of Connecticut, the Kensington Fire Rescue serves a population of close to 20,000 people. The town is split into four distinct districts, each having its own fire
department. These include the Berlin VFD, East Berlin VFD, South Kensington VFD, and us. Typically we respond to approximately 500 calls each year, including motor vehicles accidents with injuries or spills. The Kensington district is one of the busiest in the town, mainly due to population density and housing layout.

In the 2 years since the Hawthorne Fire the woods have healed. The faint, inconspicuous scars that remain on Lamentation Mountain are rapidly being erased by nature. While visible reminders of the fire continue to fade, the memories and emotions of those days continue burn strong. Today we reflect on those memories. We reflect on the dedication, the sacrifice, the tears shed in remembrance of our colleague and friend, Firefighter Robert Sharkevich.

Yesterday members from fire department and police department came together for the now annual softball game. While the cops had the upper hand the past few years the fire department showed them who’s boss, winning 14 to 11… great job and a fun time for all!
