Bylaw update: every AFHC member gets a voice.

AFHC is reviewing its bylaws to strengthen transparency, accountability and how providers are represented across the state.

A group of providers brought forward their own recommendations. We met with them on October 2, and a follow-up meeting on November 19 will look at which changes are appropriate and feasible.

Before any final decisions, we’ll open a public comment period so every member can review the proposed changes and share feedback. Details will follow as the review moves forward.

A stronger Council starts with an engaged membership.

Today, we had our Monthly, In-Personn Kent/Federal Way Chapter meeting & I got to shake hands & introduced myself to Candidates Paul McDaniel, Ellie Nguyen & Cobi Clark.
They all expressed great interest in learning more about our Adult Family Homes of Washington, the impact is has on our growing elderly population, the Funding needs, integration into our communities & how we desperately deserve the support of our government.
They seemed very motivated to create a positive change at our State Capitol.
I made sure I got some of their contacts to follow up on thier ideas & since they expressed the desire to learn more about the Adult Family Home, I invited them to spend time to speak with me to learn more of the Adult Family Home. Maybe we can invite then to some of our homes & make them lunch sometime to experience the day & life of the AFH family. With God's Grace, I hope they can find a way to help us.

Have lunch with your 2026 election Legislative candidate forum!

The AFH Adult Family Home Council facilitated the following Learning Objectives:
- Identifing key issues and candidate positions relevant to adult family homes.
- We engage directly with Legislative candidates to understand their plans and proposals for the future of the Adult Family homes in Washington
- We talked about the potential impact of the candidates’ policies on the adult family home community.
- We talked about how we can get effective advocacy for policy change that can support the needs of Adult Family Homes that can directly benefit & support our Residents.
