Lake Meridian Water District recently held a ribbon cutting for its Well 6 Improvement Project. The project included equipping a newly developed well, treatment improvements, a new well house building, electrical and piping improvements, and installation of a stand-by generator. The project was designed by BHC Consultants and constructed by Award Construction Inc. This project was partially funded by Washington Public Works Board. Thank you to Public Works Board , Washington Association of Sewer and Water Districts, and local community members for attending our event.

One unexpected condition that can impact water flowing through water mains serving our residences is……………air.

Water mains are not typically full of water and therefore there is air present. Air can build up in water mains, especially at high points, to the point that an air lock can occur. An air lock can result in pressure loss and even stop the flow of water.

A fairly easy way to prevent this is with an air vac. These components “burp” air when pressure builds to maintain good water flow.

Our employees recently installed a new air vac. One of the many jobs they do to keep our water system running smooth! Plus, who doesn’t enjoy a good burp!
