Meeker students had an exciting opportunity to learn from a guest speaker from Blue Origin who visited our school to share his career journey and experiences in aerospace engineering.
One of the most inspiring messages was how his middle school and high school experiences helped shape his future. He reminded our students that the skills they develop today can open doors to exciting opportunities tomorrow.
He also emphasized the importance of teamwork—working together, sharing ideas, learning from mistakes, and supporting one another to achieve a common goal. These are the same skills our students practice in science and robotics every day!
We are grateful to Blue Origin and our guest speaker for taking the time to inspire our students, connect classroom learning to real-world careers, and encourage them to dream big about their futures.
Who knows? The next generation of aerospace engineers and innovators may be right here at Meeker!

Kentridge's Charger Robotics participated in "Girls Generation" this weekend at Tahoma High School. The goal of Girls Generation is to provide an inclusive experience for underrepresented communities in STEM. We competed with last year's robot "Honeybee", and ended qualification matches ranked high enough to be a finals alliance captain. The team finished 3rd overall against some of the best teams in the world. Robots take a beating during a competition. We had more than our fair share of repairs to keep the robot running. The team worked hard and their perseverance paid off.

Kentlake hosted a Volunteer Fair on Thursday, September 24 during lunch. Students can explore volunteer opportunities in our community.

Volunteering can be used for job or college applications, Falcon Time volunteer hours (10th or 12th grade), helping others or exploring future career goals. We have agencies that help with food insecurity, environmental improvements, supporting families with clothing or resources, sporting event support, local elementary schools and more…

Thank you to: Storehouse, Kent Youth Police Board, Serenity Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation, King County Library, Green River Coalition, City of Covington, Kent Parks/City of Kent, Kent Little League, Cedar Valley PTA, Mountain Greenway, Mid Sound Fishers and Green River Coalition for attending.

Congratulations to Justin Bastidas, who participated in Boeing's BPEP Program during the summer of 2026 and received specialized training to join Boeing's Manufacturing team!

Justin built a strong foundation through Auto Shop 1 and Auto Shop 2, applying those hands-on skills during his Boeing training while also developing new industry and manufacturing skills along the way. His goal is clear: graduate from Kentwood High School and begin his career with Boeing.

Justin's journey is another great example of how Career and Technical Education programs create pathways from the classroom to high-demand careers. We are proud to share that three former students have already been hired by Boeing through the BPEP program, with two additional students participating in the summer program while still in high school.

Our Police Science/Criminal Law students hit the streets again this year—connecting with Kent Police officers, sharing what they’re learning, and snagging selfies.

Positive interactions matter. And our students got to see firsthand that their local officers are real, caring people who enjoy connecting with young members of the community.

Great job, Royals and Conquerors.

The Kent Festival was a fantastic day where we brought STEM learning to life with our Straw Rocket Launch Station. Community members and students designed, built, and launched rockets while exploring the science of flight. Students excelled as leaders, explaining rocket mechanics and encouraging younger children. We also discussed STEM careers related to rocketry, engineering, and problem-solving, inspiring curiosity in attendees. The event was filled with excitement, smiles, and hands-on learning, showcasing our students' teamwork and communication skills. We're grateful to everyone who participated and celebrated the joy of learning with us!
