If you have reached your 65th birthday by the end of the year, please reach out to the Auditor's Office and be sure you're claiming all of your property tax credits. In the case of the over 65, please be sure you have claimed BOTH the over 65 as well as the circuit breaker credits.
🏠IMPORTANT PROPERTY TAX INFORMATION FOR INDIANA SENIORS
For property taxes payable in 2027:
âś… The Over 65 Credit may provide an annual property-tax credit of up to $150.
✅ The Over 65 Circuit Breaker Credit generally limits the year-over-year increase in a qualifying senior’s homestead property-tax liability to 2%—including an increase attributable to a referendum—after other applicable credits are applied.
The income limits for the Over 65 Circuit Breaker Credit are:
• $61,680 or less for a single taxpayer
• $71,960 or less for a married couple filing jointly
Recent changes also removed the previous $240,000 assessed-value limit. Eligible taxpayers may receive both senior benefits.
These credits are not automatic. Seniors must meet all eligibility requirements and submit State Form 43708 by January 15, 2027, to the county auditor.
