Our September 2026 Recap
In September, East Rivanna was dispatched to 124 calls for our Keswick, Pantops, and eastern Albemarle neighbors (46 distinct call types).
Breakdown: Fire 23 (19%), EMS 95 (77%), Service 6 (5%). Busiest day of the week was Wednesday; busiest hour of the day was 11 AM.
Top call types included:
• Fall BLS: 15
• Fall ALS: 9
• Public Service BLS P2: 8
• Breathing Problems ALS: 7
• MVC BLS: 7
• Stroke ALS: 6
• Additional volume in sick person calls, residential and commercial fire alarms, and ALS medicals
We also handled Mutual Aid Request Fire calls (3). Busiest units: RS20 and E22.
On the evening of September 14, our Gator (GAT2) and ATV (ATV2) was called to Biscuit Run Park for an injured mountain biker on a trail. Working alongside Albemarle County Fire Rescue crews who walked in on foot, ATV2 located the rider and performed initial patient care and carried while GAT2 carried them off the trail to a waiting ambulance.
On the evening of September 25, E22 and RS20 responded with Albemarle County Fire Rescue and neighboring companies to a residential structure fire in our district. The fire started in the kitchen, and everyone was out of the home when crews arrived. Crews made a quick stop, and damage was minimal, mostly from smoke. It's a good reminder to test your smoke alarms monthly and replace batteries as needed. Working alarms give your family the early warning they need to get out safely. Email us at [email protected] to ask about Albemarle County's FREE smoke detector program.
Our volunteers in September:
