“I feel the need… the need for SPEED!”

The 5th graders (and some staff!) at Poinciana Elementary School - Key West put their speed, skills, and quickness to the test on bikes, scooters, rollerblades, and even their own two feet.

Key West Police Department Motors Units were on hand to “clock” their speeds, with every result recorded for a fun, hands-on learning experience.

Afterward, students introduced themselves, asked some great math-related questions, and used their results to turn a morning of excitement into an awesome real-world math lesson.

Of course, no great morning is complete without a little reward! Things wrapped things up with some delicious “power rings” (aka donuts)!

Unfortunately, our officers have been working way too hard in the gym to indulge… but we sure appreciate the offer!

A huge thank-you to the students and staff at Poinciana Elementary for an unforgettable morning of learning, laughter, and SPEED!

Somewhere between the hero you dreamed of becoming and the battles you fought along the way, you lost pieces of yourself. But don’t forget how far you’ve come, how much you’ve overcome, and how many people still need the light you bring into this world. Stay strong. You’re doing better than you think, even on the days it doesn’t feel like it. The world may need your strength, but the child you once were still needs your heart. Keep going, not just for those who believe in you, but for the younger you who never stopped hoping you’d make it this far. You deserve to see the beautiful things still waiting for you.
