You get an email saying you won a $5,000 gift card.
Your bank account is “about to be closed.”
Your package is waiting for you.
You’ve been selected for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
🤨 Yeah… probably not.
Phishing scams are everywhere, and they’re getting harder to spot. Here are a few ways to keep from taking the bait:
🎣 DON’T CLICK RANDOM LINKS.
That link in an unexpected email, text, or social media ad? Don't click it just because it says “ACT NOW!!!” 🚩
🔐 DON’T GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION.
Your Social Security number, passwords, banking information, and other personal details don't need to be handed over to some random person on the internet.
💳 WATCH YOUR CREDIT CARD & BANK TRANSACTIONS.
Keep an eye out for charges you don't recognize. If something looks suspicious, investigate it.
🤯 IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE… IT PROBABLY IS.
Congratulations! You won a brand-new car! You just need to send $500 first.
Wait… what?
📧 BE CAREFUL WITH EMAILS.
Even if an email looks like it's from a company you know, don't automatically trust the link. Go directly to the company's official website or use the app you normally use.
📞 WHEN IN DOUBT, VERIFY.
Contact the company using a phone number or website you know is legitimate — not the information provided in the suspicious message.
Remember: STOP. THINK. VERIFY. Scammers are counting on you reacting quickly. Take a minute, slow down, and make them work for it.
🎣 Don't take the bait. Your personal information is worth protecting. 🔐
