Special thanks to our fabulous Keynote NYS Comptroller Tom DiNapoli NY who knows how to bring a room together for good.

The food was delicious and conversations inspiring and impactful! Thank you to Rep. Josh Riley, Assembly Member Paula Elaine Kay and Michele Frazier for 51 for joining us and speaking as well.

Our SCDC Chair Steven Vegliante did a terrific job MC'ing the event with Tim Hamblin providing a beautiful rendition of our National Anthem.

It was great to see local electeds, candidates, supporters, veterans, and union folks in the capacity filled room.

The Jeffersonian Committee did a great job organizing this year's event and is already working on next years.

NYS Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli Keynote for the Sullivan County Democratic Committee Jeffersonian

NYS Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli will serve as Kenote Speaker for the Sullivan County Democratic Committee Jeffersonian at Resorts World Catskills on Sunday, October 25, 2026 from 11 AM - 1 PM.

From protection of our tax dollars, schools, and pensions, DiNapoli continues to serve all the residents of New York State.

Tom won his first election in 1972 and served as a trustee on the Mineola Board of Education, becoming the first 18-year-old in New York State to hold public office. He attended Hofstra University, earning a bachelor's degree in history and graduated magna cm laude in 1976. He worked in the telecommunications industry for 10 years and attended night classes to earn his master's degree from The New School University's Graduate School of Management and Urban Professions.

In 1986, he ran for the New York State Assembly and was elected to represent the 16th District in northwestern Nassau County for the next 20 years. Tom was elected State Comptroller on February 7, 2007, by a bipartisan majority of the State Legislature. He was elected Comptroller by New York's voters in 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022. He continues to have bipartisan support throughout the state because he does his job winning his last two elections as the highest votes cast in any statewide election.

Under his leadership and during turbulent fiscal markets, the State pension fund remains one of the best-managed public pension funds in the nation.

His investments of our funds, his work to ensure fiscal oversight for our schools, and his continued work in support of women owned businesses highlight some of his focuses making the NYS Comptroller's Office recognized for its excellence in the United States.

The Sullivan County Democratic Committee is pleased to welcome its friend, Comptroller DiNapoli back to our beautiful county and is proud to support him and his work on behalf of all New Yorkers.

Also scheduled to speak are Congressman Josh Riley, Assembly Member Paula Elaine Kay and NYS Senate Candidate NY-51 Michele Frazier.

Tickets are priced at $100 each. Digital Journal Ads are still being accepted. Contact [email protected] or call 845 798-1770 for more information.

Democracy for a fair and accessible election experience only happens when we all participate.

If lines are long; people don't vote.
If polls aren't open in your community; people don't vote.
If people don't feel comfortable with those working at the polls; people don't vote.

Consider taking this opportunity to make it possible.

17 years old and up. Must be registered to vote with a Democratic or Republican affiliation. Specific need in Sullivan County for Republican Poll Workers.

No matter what is happening around the state or country...let's make our election opportunities the best possible!

The Sullivan County Board of Elections is encouraging local registered Republican voters to serve as paid election inspectors on Election Day, November 3.

“State law requires every poll site to have a sufficient number of inspectors from the major political parties,” explained Pamela Murran, the Republican Commissioner of the Board of Elections. “We have the necessary number of Democratic voters signed up – we need more Republicans in order to properly staff our 33 polling locations in November.”

Republican elections inspectors are specifically sought in the townships of Callicoon, Fallsburg, Fremont, Neversink, Thompson and Tusten.

“Election inspectors are a vital part of the democratic process,” added Deanna Senyk, the Democratic Commissioner of the Board of Elections. “They prepare the polling place for voting, set up the voting equipment, sign in and process voters, close the polling place, canvass and report the results, and assist voters, if requested.”

Inspectors must be at least 17 years old and registered to vote in Sullivan County as either a Democrat or Republican. The County Board of Elections provides training and support, including paying inspectors $40 to take the half-day class and $300 to serve a full day at their assigned polling location.

To ask questions or sign up to become an election inspector, contact the Sullivan County Board of Elections at 845-807-0400 or [email protected].

What a fabulous day at the SUNY Sullivan Constitution Day: Celebrating 250 Years!

The Sullivan County Democratic Committee was honored to be on hand with our Constitution Voting Wheel Game (the student's really had fun doing the wheel for sweet treat prizes). In addition, the Committee registered students and staff to vote, provided assistance for students registered in other counties throughout NY with absentee ballot application since they will be in classes at SUNY Sullivan on Election Day. We spoke to numerous participants about working the polls on Election Day. And, of course, we shared literature on Governor Kathy Hochul, NYS Attorney General Letitia James, NYS Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, Assembly Member Paula Elaine Kay, Congressman Rep. Josh Riley, and Michele Frazier for 51 and Working the Polls!

The most interesting discussion came from the young students who feel their vote doesn't matter. As the goal was to showcase our Constitution, (a totally bi-partisian event) we were able to take the time to explain that voting is the most important part of every citizen in a civilized democracy. The conversation was enlightening to all involved, and we hope these young folks engage, as it is for their future.

Great food (authentic period) by the SUNY Sullivan Culinary students. And so many other informative agencies and terrific period music (and, of course, costumes!)

Congratulations to SUNY Sullivan and Jamie Brooks, SUNY Sullivan, Director of Student Activities, for organizing and providing this "beyond the classroom" learning experience!

Special Shout Out to NYS Democratic Sullivan County Consolidated Field Office Director Jason Martz, New York State Democratic Committee AD100 Lori James, and Sullivan County Democratic Committee Members Fred Feibusch, Mickie Diamond, and Richard Dooley for arranging and setting up all the events!
