🚒 We had an absolute blast visiting the Sabine Elementary School and Bricks Learning Center this past week! 🔥

Our team stopped by to hang out with some incredible students and talk all about fire safety and prevention. Teaching the next generation how to stay safe is one of the most important jobs we have, and these kids were amazing listeners!

During our visit, the students learned about:
• 🚨 Hear the Beep, Get on Your Feet: What smoke alarms sound like and what to do when they go off.
• 🚪 Know Your Way Out: How to safely and quickly exit a building during an emergency.
• 🗺️ Family Escape Plans: The importance of practicing a home escape plan and choosing a designated outside meeting place.
• 👨‍🚒 Gear Up: Seeing a firefighter in full protective gear so they know we are here to help and never to hide from us!

The highlight of the day was definitely checking out the fire truck and seeing all of our equipment up close. 🧯💨
Thank you to the students, teachers, and staff for a warm welcome and a fun morning. Remember to test your smoke alarms at home this week!

INCIDENT: Controlled Burn Extinguished 🚒🔥

Earlier today, our crews responded to a controlled burn near Hillburn Rd that rapidly spread past its intended area due to wind conditions.

Thanks to the swift response and coordinated efforts of our firefighters, the forward progress of the fire was successfully stopped. We are relieved to report that there is zero property damage (besides burned grass) and no injuries to either residents or our personnel.

This incident serves as a critical reminder of how quickly open fires can change behavior, even when planned properly.

Important Safety Reminders for Residents:

• 📋 Check for Burn Bans: Always verify current conditions and local restrictions before lighting any outdoor fire.
• 💨 Monitor the Weather: High winds and low humidity can cause fire to spread out of control in seconds.
• 🧯 Stand By: Never leave a fire unattended, and always keep a water source nearby.

If a burn ever begins to get away from you, do not wait—call 911 immediately. Acting fast helps us keep our community safe!

🔥 BURN BAN UPDATE: 🔥

Stay Safe, Gregg County!

While the outdoor burn ban has been officially rescinded, we want to remind all residents that fire safety should still be your top priority. Conditions can change quickly, so please continue to use extreme caution if you plan on doing any outdoor burning.

Before you strike a match, please remember these essential safety tips:

• Check the Weather: Never burn on windy days. High gusts can quickly carry embers and spark unexpected fires.

• Clear the Area: Ensure the zone around your burn pile is completely cleared of dry grass, leaves, and other flammable materials.

• Stay Attended: Never leave a fire unsupervised, even for a moment.

• Have Water Ready: Keep a charged water hose or a reliable water source immediately next to your burning area.

• Drown the Embers: When you are finished, drown the ashes completely with water and stir them to ensure everything is cold to the touch.

Let’s keep Gregg County safe and beautiful. Thank you for doing your part to prevent wildfires! 🧑‍🚒🌳
