Killbuck Township / Village your support matters!

We are asking this November for your support on the upcoming Fire & EMS Renewal levy this levy is not a new tax it simply continues the funding that allows us to maintain the essential Fire,EMS services you rely on everyday without the support of this levy the staffing during the daytime hours would not be possible Monday-Friday. Please join us in honoring and remembering Firefighter Jared Zimmerly of the Prairie Township (OH) Fire Department who died in the line of duty on September 9, 2007.

Jared joined the Prairie Township Fire Department in 2007. He was also a reserve Sheriff Deputy.

He was an amazing person‚ always ready to help others and always just so happy all of the time. He was a member of the National Honor Society in school. He owned his own semi-truck and trucking company – Zimmerly Trucking when he was just 18. He worked very hard and long hours but still maintained an active social life. He had so many friends. He was an avid motorcyclist and owned his own Harley Fat boy motorcycle.

He is survived by his daughter Kierra and her mother Jolene; his mother and father Tim and Marlene; a sister Julia; a brother-in-law Cody; a brother‚ Jeremy; and a niece Shaelyn. His best friend Eric Miller was like a brother to him. Eric has named his new son after Jared.

Jared is missed very much by Jolene. They loved each other very much.

He was one of the most generous and kind people I have ever met. We miss him so much. Nothing is the same without him.

UPDATE (9/23/2026): U.S. 62 (SR 83) is OPEN at this location. The work is complete.

September 14-25, U.S. 62 will be closed from the County Road 58/U.S. 62 intersection in Millersburg to the U.S. 62/SR 83 split for multiple culvert replacements. The detour is U.S. 62 west to SR 60 north, SR 60 north to SR 39 east, SR 39 east back to U.S. 62, and reverse. Estimated Completion: September 25, 2026.
