Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery VLB Texas State Veterans Cemeteries are special resting places, close to home, where friends, family and fellow Texans can honor Texas Veterans.

The Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen is located on 174 acres previously part of Fort Hood and donated by the federal government.

The VLB is holding a public flag placement ceremony on November 11th, 2026, at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery to honor our nation's heroes.

Please join us as we honor the brave men and women who have selflessly served our great nation.

Community members of all ages are welcome to attend, and flags will be provided to all volunteers. Help us ensure that every Veteran is remembered and honored this Veterans Day.

We wanted to update you all on the status of our expansion project at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

We had asked for two items to be delivered early in the contract period: Space Force and Sections 11 and 12. In these photos, you can see the assembly area where the bronze service seals have been cleaned and remounted, including Space Force.

You can also see the six service flags with Space Force as the second flag from the right. The colored seals at the committal shelter now also include Space Force.

Finally, a drone view of sections 11 and 12 where over 2,000 crypts lie just beneath the surface.

The rest of the project is proceeding on schedule and on budget with completion in Summer 2027.

In honor of National Purple Heart Day on Friday, August 7th, 2026, and to honor our combat wounded, we have lit our front gates up in purple light all week.

This is not only to honor these warriors, but to remind the public that the price of freedom is not free, it is earned in blood and sacrifice.

These patriotic lights are meant to honor all citizens, especially our Veterans and their families, without whom we would not have the freedom that we enjoy today.
