🎗️ A Mother's Courage. A Story of Resilience. A Lesson in Advocacy. 💛

On October 12, 2026, Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) Hosted by American Veterans Mission welcomed City of Harker Heights Councilmember Roxanne Flores as our guest speaker for a meaningful Childhood Cancer Awareness Event in Killeen, Texas.

Councilmember Flores shared her family's personal journey through her young son's childhood cancer diagnosis, offering our youth volunteers, parents, and community members valuable lessons about resilience, compassion, and the importance of advocating for children's health and well-being.

Her message emphasized trusting parental instincts, asking questions about pediatric healthcare and clinical trials, and staying flexible when navigating unexpected challenges.

💛 For our young volunteers, the event was more than an opportunity to learn about childhood cancer. It reminded us that leadership begins with empathy, awareness inspires action, and advocacy can make a meaningful difference in others' lives.

The event also brought participants together through creative childhood cancer awareness activities, reinforcing the importance of community support for children and families facing difficult medical journeys.

🙏 American Veterans Mission sincerely appreciates Councilmember Roxanne Flores for sharing her family's experience and our youth volunteers, parents, and community members for participating.

When the Ribbon-Cutting Comes With a Soundtrack 🤠🎶

Sometimes the best part of a community event is the moment you didn’t plan for. 😄

Our executive director took this video on October 9, 2026, and couldn’t resist capturing these musicians bringing some great energy to the celebration. 🎸🪗🎶

Central Texas knows how to make an event memorable. 🇺🇸🤠 And yes, we would keep the original audio on this one. The live music is the whole vibe.

Congratulations to Texas Medical Clinica on a successful and wonderful grand opening!

A Major Milestone for Veterans in Central Texas 🇺🇸🏥

On October 8, 2026, community leaders, veterans, public officials, and regional partners gathered in Copperas Cove for the groundbreaking of the new Copperas Cove VA Clinic.

Dr. Anthony V. Martinez, President and Executive Director of American Veterans Mission and a member of the Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors, attended the ceremony as the community marked the beginning of a major investment in veterans’ health care and regional growth.

The approximately $151 million, 256,000-square-foot multi-specialty outpatient clinic is expected to significantly expand access to VA health care for veterans across Central Texas. The current project plans call for the construction to be completed in 2028, with the first patients expected in early 2029.

For American Veterans Mission, this project represents more than a new facility. It represents expanded access to care, shorter travel for many veterans, stronger community infrastructure, and a long-term commitment to the men and women who served our nation. 🇺🇸

We are grateful to the many federal, local, economic development, health care, business, and community partners whose collaboration is helping move this project forward. 🤝

American Veterans Mission was proud to be represented today at Texas A&M University-Central Texas for the grand opening of the CORE Building and the naming recognition honoring Dr. Marc Nigliazzo.

AVM President & Executive Director, Dr. Anthony Martinez, joined university and community leaders in celebrating this important milestone and recognizing Dr. Nigliazzo’s lasting contributions to TAMUCT.

Dr. Nigliazzo played an important role in the university’s development and helped shape the institution during a formative period of its growth. Today’s recognition reflects the enduring impact of that leadership and service.

The occasion also held personal significance for Dr. Martinez. During his time as a Graduate Research Assistant at TAMUCT, he had the opportunity to interact regularly with Dr. Nigliazzo and later received both of his graduate degrees (MBA & MSML) with Dr. Nigliazzo presiding at commencement.

American Veterans Mission congratulates Dr. Marc Nigliazzo on this well-deserved recognition and celebrates the continued growth, leadership, and community impact of Texas A&M University-Central Texas. 🎓👏🏼
