Significant fire danger conditions are expected today into this weekend due to the combination of wind, very low relative humidity, and dry fuels. Red Flag Warnings are in effect today as a strong cold front moves in, bringing gusty northwest winds around 25 to 35 mph. Make sure to heed local burn bans.

The red flag warning for Friday includes Carroll, Grenada, Leflore, Montgomery and Webster Counties.

The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors has voted to request a county wide burn ban. The vote by the board was passed and this request is sent to the Mississippi Forestry Commission for approval.

Under the current weather condition any type of outdoor burning is not suggested.

Please do not burn.

Our firefighters are dedicated volunteers who serve their community while maintaining full-time careers. When they are called to unnecessary incidents, they may have to leave work or other responsibilities, which can affect their employers, families, and availability for true emergencies.

One of our fire fighters is a licensed drone operator pilot. Today KVFD was able to put his talents to work helping locate Mr. Jones. We would also like to thank the un-name person who had deer cameras in the area and played an essential part in our search and rescue efforts. A job well done is also extended to Montgomery County Sheriff's Department, Mississippi County Sheriff DepartmentMedStat Emergency Medical Services, the local Game and Fish and our Montgomery County Dispatchers.
