Our hearts are heavy today as we mourn the tragic loss involving our sister base, REACH 16, in Southern California last night.

The air medical community is a family, and when one of our own is hurting, we all feel it. Our deepest condolences go out to the families, loved ones, crew members, colleagues, and everyone affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.

We are keeping the REACH 16 team and everyone involved in our thoughts as they navigate the difficult days ahead. We also hold close those who continue to wait for answers and those involved in the ongoing response and investigation.

Help us congratulate Macey on her three year anniversary! As a Kingfisher local, Macey is an important part of our team! Macey is a flight nurse who exemplifies professionalism and is integral in what makes AE131 such a fun base. In her 3 years, macey has taken over 250 safe patient flights, helped educate new hires, and been a helping hand at every turn. We are very proud to have Macey as part of our little family and we look forward to several more years with her!

Roper is the definition of a hard worker and consistent performer. He is incredibly intelligent, driven, and approaches every shift with the same determination to provide excellent care to his patients and be someone his crew can depend on.

His strong clinical knowledge, work ethic, and ability to consistently perform at a high level make him an incredible asset to the team. No matter what the shift brings, Roper shows up ready to work, ready to learn, and ready to take care of the patient in front of him.

Help us congratulate Flight Nurse Nikki on not one, but TWO incredible milestones—celebrating 3 years of service with Air Evac 131 AND reaching 250 safe patient flights! ❤️👏

Nikki is hardworking, intelligent, compassionate, and an incredible part of our AE 131 family. She brings so much knowledge and dedication to every shift and truly cares for the patients and people around her. 250 safe patient flights is an amazing accomplishment and represents countless patients and families she has cared for along the way. 🚁💙

And apparently, we’ve also discovered that she’s basically Snow White. 😂 Who knew she had a special talent for attracting every animal she encounters?! Thanks to Nikki, we’ve now officially acquired a base pet—a bunny! 🐰👑

🚁 It’s More Than Just a Windsock

It may look like a simple piece of equipment, but a windsock provides critical information every time our aircraft takes off or lands.

For helicopter operations, knowing the wind direction and getting a visual indication of wind speed helps our pilots evaluate conditions during some of the most critical phases of flight. It’s a simple tool that provides immediate, valuable information—no screen or button required.

That’s why keeping our windsock in good condition matters.

Today, our crew spent some time repairing ours and making sure it was ready to keep doing its job. It’s one of those small maintenance tasks that may never make the highlight reel, but it’s part of maintaining a safe and operationally ready base.

In air medical transport, safety starts long before the tones drop. It’s in the equipment checks, the training, the maintenance, and yes—even the windsock waving above the helipad.

Cade is a full-time paramedic at our sister base, Air Evac Lifeteam 158 - Seminole, OK, but we were lucky enough to have him working with us today when he reached this amazing goal!
