Fatal Traffic Collision – W. Beale Street

On Monday, May 18, 2026, at approximately 10:48 a.m., Kingman Police responded to the 1100 block of W. Beale Street following reports of a three-vehicle collision.

The preliminary investigation indicates a semi-truck failed to stop for slowing traffic in a congested construction area, striking a sedan and pushing it into a second semi-truck stopped ahead.

The sedan occupants, a married couple from California, were both wearing seat belts. The 82-year-old male driver sustained serious injuries and was transported for medical treatment. The 78-year-old female passenger died as a result of the crash.

No obvious signs of impairment were observed. Speed and driver inattention are believed to be contributing factors. The investigation remains ongoing.

We extend our condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic incident and remind motorists to slow down, stay alert, and expect sudden traffic changes in construction zones.

Batten down the hatches Kingman.

Increasing winds and dry conditions will lead to critical fire weather conditions for much of Northwest Arizona this weekend. Those planning to head out for outdoor recreation should be aware of the fire danger. Heed all fire restrictions and use caution with fire triggers (grills, cars, campfires, etc.).
